Today has been a busy and interesting day.  Finally after so much time of finding venues and contact information, etc.  I finally got everything ready to send out to the live music venues.  I had a few setbacks with sending out email. (Google only allows 500 a day to prevent spam.)

It felt like I only got a tiny portion of the email sent out today.  I have on the other hand, been able to set up a new MySpace account and finally get the blog set up better with the same information I’ve been sending out to the venues.

I’m really excited about getting the information about The Venue Zone Directory out to the venue people because I just know that once they and the bands and artists start to use it, they’ll realize what’s been missing in other directories. (I think ; )

Tomorrow will either be more emails sent out first (over 1,000 venues initially!) or I will start sending information tto live music venues who have MySpace pages set up instead of websites.  Music venues who have contact pages on their websites will be the last group contacted for the December launch.  Snail mail contacts unfortunately will have to wait until next year after the launch.

A List of The Cities

I’ve finally reached the point where I can start concentrating on the sales info campaign for The Venue Zone.  Within the next three weeks, I will be sending out sales information to music venues, clubs, etc. on what the directory is, the benefits to being in it, and the value it will bring to their establishments.

Since I am a one person company for now and this is the first edition of the directory, I will  not be able to get every city and music venue in the directory this first time around.  Below is a list of cities who are being targeted the first go round.  The cities are based upon size and music venue viabilty.  Several college towns are also listed with more to follow.

This is the initial launch and really just a jumping off point.  The venues are just a fraction of the music venues across the country.  About a month and a half after the launch, I will start to target new cities.  If I didn’t get to your city this time around don’t worry,  it will be coming in the next directory update.  In the meantime, please tweet me or post your venue info. here if I missed you. Find me on Twitter at www.twitter.com/zonarproduction  Thanks and looking forward to getting this show on the road.  Check out the current lists of cities. Continue Reading »

“It takes money to make money.”

No truer words could be spoken than this when it comes to funding a web-based start up company.  For the past several months, I have been developing a much needed comprehensive live music venue directory which is set to launch June 1, 2009.  I’ve funded the development on my own so far from freelance lighting tech work I do for an event production company.  Now though, I’ve hit a critical point and I need outside funding in order to meet the June 1 deadline.
